I gather images and take inspiration from my inner thoughts and the world around me. I create mostly abstract and non-objective pieces in oil, acrylic, and watercolor paints, pen and ink, graphite, fiber, photography, and various clay media. I create art because the creative process completes me and calms me.
I also love the end result: the creation and the response. The end result gives me a sense of accomplishment that I cannot gain from any other activity, and I feel the need to share it with others. I dream of creating full-time and am actively working towards that goal.
Composition and color scheme are elements I always consider when I begin a piece. I want to create particular moods in the viewer, depending on the subject matter. My passionate acquisition of knowledge leads me to want to understand the world around me and I try to make sense of it with my art. With nods to flora, fauna, space, art deco architectural elements (my friendly wave to Tulsa), I create scenes that can only exist in their own space.
